Spey / switch 'all black' fly rod build kit, 11" fore 5" rear grip suitable for two-handed rods 10-13'
Important: please check fit before purchase. Handle bore circa 11mm is NOT suitable for blanks with butt OD less than 9mm. Select the 'add mesh tape' option under 'product extras' for mesh packing tape to shim gaps of up to 1mm (each side) between the blank and the grip (see listing pictures 7-8).
A convenient and affordable build kit with good value and quality components that will serve you well, saving around 10% compared to buying the components individually.
Handle: 11" extended full wells style carbon fibre grip. The handle is inlet to fit the supplied reel seat, uplock configuration only.
If you buy the kit with one of our blanks in the same order, we will also ream the grip to fit the blank or supply mesh tape for shimming (whichever is required). For a blank bought elsewhere select the option to purchase sufficient shimming mesh tape if you need it. We recommend also buying a black winding check (product link below), to fit the OD of your blank at 19"/48cm from the butt end.
Rear grip: 5" carbon fibre with black EVA end cap.
Reel seat: All supplied in black with two lock rings and a fighting butt trim band. The 'Light' and 'Medium' seat option has a black carbon fibre insert, the 'Heavy' kit reel seat is all metal black anodised.
Light and Medium: UL6 braided seat, suits spey/switch blanks up to 11mm butt OD, spey/switch line rating 2-7
Heavy: UL8 all metal seat to fit blanks up to 15mm but OD, spey/switch line rating #7-11.
Guides: Appropriately sized Pac Bay or Seaguide snake or single foot guide set, in TiCH black PVD finish to colour match the handle and reel seat. Select the rod length, line rating and tiptop size you require. For rods 10'-12', the kit includes 13 guides total plus a large loop tiptop. For rods 12' -14', 15 guides total plus a large loop tiptop. Choose between three stripping guide options: ceramic lined standard upright or angled anti-tangle, or traditional style with a heavy duty metal ring.
Light sets (spey/switch #2/3/4) start with a size #1 running guide, and include one #12 stripping guide.
Medium sets (spey/switch #4-7) start with a #2 running guide, and include #12 and #16 strippers.
Heavy sets (spey/switch #7-10) starts with a #3 running guide, and include #12 and #16 strippers.
