How to order

Select your choice of insert using the two-letter code. Each piece is unique and you will receive the piece pictured (excepting where several inserts are listed as available under one code when they are all very similar in appearance, colour, figure and of equal quality to the one pictured).

Premium inserts can be purchased at a discounted rate as part of a full reel seat i.e. at the same time as the metal hardware to fit. One discounted insert can be purchased per set of metal hardware, in the same transaction.

Insert only purchase

Select the 'Purchase insert only' option to buy an insert without metal hardware. You will pay the undiscounted full insert price, removal of the discount is shown as a surcharge.

This rate will also apply if you buy more inserts than metal parts, please add the additional inserts to the shopping cart as a separate item to those you buy at a discount with metal parts. It will also apply if you buy an insert in a separate transaction after buying a reel seat skeleton previously.

About our premium inserts

Premium inserts are hand made in the UK by The Flyrod Workshop from a range of acrylics and exotic / burl woods. A range of techniques and finishes are used to enhance wood figure and grain, followed by at least three dip coats of ultra hard, waterproof and flexible UV resistant urethane clear coat, polished to a high gloss finish.

Where a wood insert code has a third letter "- S" the wood has been stabilised by infusion with acrylic resin under vacuum, to protect against swelling from water ingress. UV stable dyes are added to the stabilising resin to produce our coloured wood inserts.

We picture some inserts prior to rebating the screw threads. All inserts will be trimmed, rebated to fit the screw threads and polished before dispatch.

Full reel seat length about 3.75" 95mm including insert, of which 8mm is recessed into the reel seat retainer.

As a hand made product individual pieces will vary slightly within acceptable tolerances.  If you are buying an insert only, we suggest that you first check that the screw threads of your reel seat hardware will fit the 13.4mm default rebate.
