Sets include a colour matched tiptop ring, a u-bend hook keeper, and a good quality lined ceramic stripping guide (or two where noted in the table below). A standard shape lined stripping guides with the ring perpendicular to the blank will be provided as standard. If you prefer use the options to select an anti-tangle style guide, with the ring slightly angled to the blank, or a traditional style guide with a chunky metal ring.
Tiptop sizes available: Standard loop 1.4mm (#3.5) - 2.2mm (#5.5). Large loop 1.8mm (#4.5) - 2.4mm (#6). A large loop tiptop will be supplied for sets for rods rated line #8+.
If you have purchased a rod blank and a guide set together we will assume they are intended to go together and we will supply the correct size tiptop.
If the guide set is for your own blank, ask your blank provider or measure the diamater of your rod blank about 1cm from the tip end with a pair of callipers. If in doubt, pick the next size up, or buy some extra sizes (individual tiptops listed separately). Buying one or two extra will usually cost less than the postage cost of replacing the wrong size.
Guides are good quality Pac Bay or Seaguide components made in China. Chrome or PVD plated stainless steel, lined stripping guides have alconite or zirconium ceramic rings.
